Who we are

Stone Soup Family Pop Up is a dynamic global group comprised of families who gather as a borderless community at a chosen destination somewhere in the world.

We are global families who co-create intentionally somewhere in the world from 1-3 months at a time to learn, grow, work and play in community while exploring a part of the world. We share our collective experiences, skills and knowledge and nurture meaningful relationships to allow us all to navigate the world more empowered. They say it takes a village, but first you have to create it. We are now, more than ever, a global village. We can consciously create the world we want to thrive in wherever we live or travel to, for a more enjoyable world for all, one pop up at a time.

We experience deeper connections with like-minded families for those longing for community while living “out in the world.” In the company of others, you get to go deeper and examine what it takes to strengthen our personal story, our families and our marriages as we re-evaluate the way we live and how we want to expand in our world.

How we got started

Back in 2017 at Family Adventure Summit Azizi Birkeland brought up the idea regarding creating a family “pop up” style community. After a few meetings and many conversations with families traveling and living life beyond the ordinary it became obvious that many were interested in meeting on a regular basis in a slightly more organized and purpose driven way beyond excursions.  Many expressed wanting to be in an environment that supported each other in our personal journeys as we share skills, classes and local immersion for adults and children. By 2018 the world was ready for the first official Stone Soup Family Pop Up Community.

We kicked off hosting a month long family pop up community in San Miguel de Allende in October of 2018.  It led into the Family Adventure Summit that took place October 31 – November 2 there in San Miguel. With so many families already planning to attend the conferences it was a great way to launch the first experience.
